Beloved independent bookshop in Northern Quarter closes

One of many Northern Quarter’s finest impartial outlets is closing for good after nearly twenty years within the metropolis.

Arty bookshop Magma, which additionally shares magazines, prints and presents, will likely be bowing out of town centre after being left ‘irreparably broken’ by Covid-19.

The Oldham Road web site, which opened in 2002, is the third store below the Magma model that first began in London’s Covent Backyard.

A heartfelt message posted to their Instagram earlier within the month stated: “Magma has already been irreparably broken by the results of Covid-19 and this new lockdown is yet one more painful blow.

“It comes at a very unlucky time of 12 months. Usually we might be beginning our Christmas prep over the subsequent few weeks.
